Meet the Team

Bonded by true friendship, values, and dedication to our customers, Haugland’s Action Auction considers all of our employees to be part of one big family. Several members of our staff have been in our company for 25–30 years, and those that are younger, have practically grown up at our auction sales. Our relationship with our staff is a true testament to our commitment to valuing and respecting people, something you will find while working with Haugland’s Action Auction as either a seller or buyer.

Diane Haugland

Owner, Clerk/Cashier

Diane Haugland grew up in Kenmare, North Dakota. She and Butch have been married for more than 35 years and reside near Ambrose, North Dakota. Diane has always had a love for music and worked for many years as a music therapist at a local nursing home. Diane and Butch farm and ranch in addition to operating the auction company. Together they have four children and two grandchildren. Her strong values, ability to laugh and thoughtfulness towards others make her a tremendous asset to both her family and the auction company. You will see Diane’s friendly face clerking and cashiering auctions, as she has done so since the company’s onset. Without her, it wouldn’t happen!

Drew Haugland

Auctioneer

Drew Haugland graduated from Divide County High School and Dickinson State University with a degree in Ag Business. Sports have always been a passion for him, playing college football and having a wealth of sports knowledge. If you were ever on a game show and had only one lifeline, Drew is your guy to call! He can tell you who played first base on the 1962 Yankees team or who won the Heisman Trophy four years ago. Drew worked as a Customs and Immigration Officer at the Canadian Border for many years prior to pursuing the farming operation he has today. Drew resides in Crosby, North Dakota, and is one of our auctioneers.

Amber Haugland

Auctioneer

Amber Haugland graduated from Divide County High School and received her Bachelor of science degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Nebraska. Amber served as a state and national FFA officer, presenting leadership workshops across the state and country, utilizing public speaking skills she learned through this experience throughout the auction business. Amber has worked in real estate, and agriculture lending, and now is an agent with Farmers Union Insurance in Crosby, North Dakota. Amber is the proud mom of her son, Ryder. Together, they are developing their herd of cows and enjoy riding, roping, and sports in their spare time. Amber brings a bubbly personality, bright smile, and enthusiasm to all of her auctions. She loves being a second-generation auctioneer and watching her son follow suit also, as he practices to be just like her and his grandfather, Butch.

Ryder Phelan

Delivery Man, Box Runner, Bid Caller, Ringman

Andrea “Andi” Haugland grew up on the family farm near Crosby, North Dakota, and graduated from Divide County High School. Andi, as we fondly call her, attended Mankato School of Auctioneering in 2016. She is currently attending North Dakota State University and majoring in Agricultural Business. This sweet and a ‘lil bit sassy auctioneer and bid caller has the true Haugland girl traits! She also loves athletics, values faith, family, and farming, and has a heart of gold.

Marilyn Andrick

Cashier

Marilyn Andrick hails from Crosby, North Dakota, where she raised her three children. She is now a proud grandmother and enjoys spending time with her family. Marilyn is the business office manager for the St. Luke’s Medical Center. She has been the cashier for Haugland’s Action Auction for nearly 25 years. When you go to check out, Marilyn’s great smile will greet you, as she is a kind soul who loves interacting with our customers. But, it’s also “business” with Marilyn, and she certainly can keep all of the guys in line! Her solid moral compass make her a strong woman component of our team.

Gary Rust

Ringman

Gary Rust is from Fortuna, North Dakota, and prior to working with Haugland’s Action Auction was a self-proclaimed “auction junkie!” He anxiously awaits auction days because he loves auctions so much. He is a hard worker and is valued on our team by all members. Gary has two grown children and several grandchildren. Gary serves on community boards, including the Western Area Water Supply. He works in a variety of capacities for the Fortuna community, including taking care of the needs of the Fortuna Port of Entry. Gary is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, so be sure to get to know him!

Paige (Haugland) Uran

Paige (Haugland) Uran graduated from Divide County High School and North Dakota State University with a degree in Agricultural Education. Paige is the youngest of the four Haugland kids and is a touch independent, a little bit of a spitfire, but has a kind heart. She served as a North Dakota State FFA officer, promoting agriculture education and leadership. Paige is our clerk, so she has the toughest job of all, listening to the sale all day and recording each transaction without missing a beat. This requires a great deal of focus. Paige is married to Brian Uran, and they now reside on their farm and ranch near Ross, North Dakota. Paige teaches Agricultural Education in Stanley, North Dakota, and Brian works for Gooseneck Implement. Paige and Brian run a herd of cows too, so she is heavily involved in agriculture as well.

Keith Brown

Ringman

Known as “Mr. Fix-it” to our staff, Keith Brown sometimes gets called upon for the dirty jobs and grunt work. He can start any piece of equipment, whether a lawn mower, tractor or anything else. Originally from Baldwin, North Dakota, Keith and his wife Betty have resided in Crosby since 1987. For 33 years, Keith worked as the Divide County Extension Agent. Upon retiring from that position, Keith is now farming, hunting, and spending time with grandkids. At sales, he will often be showing off pictures of his next big buck. Keith is so dependable and will always show up, whether rain, shine or snow, to be a Ringman at our auctions.

Betty Brown

Clerk, Cashier, Bid Caller

Betty Brown grew up near Bismarck, North Dakota, but, in 1987 she and her husband Keith moved to Crosby and that is where they raised their four children. Betty works as the clerk technician for the Divide County Soil Conservation District. Both Keith and Betty have been actively involved in the Divide County Fair and 4-H programs for many years. Growing up on the farm, she knows her tools and equipment well, is always handy, and able to help wherever needed. She can be found clerking, cashiering, or bid calling at auction sales. Betty jumps in whenever work needs to be done and can outwork just about anyone. Betty spends much of her spare time with her grandkids and enjoys the outdoors. She has a great laugh and a good heart!
